ProdPad is a product management tool founded in 2012 in England. Its primary target audience is startups and small- to mid-sized companies that need to collect feedback, prioritize it quickly, and visualize it to ship better products more quickly.

Productboard users praise its ease of use, even for non-technical users.

  • "Productboard helps us streamline our product prioritization process, and I like that. It’s really easy to use, and my team can implement it without extensive training. While the tool has generally good user experience, it tends to get bogged down when it works with a lot of data, as this user highlights:

  • "The only problem with Productboard is the fact that the software slows down when dealing with massive data sets. This can be quite irritating, especially when one has a tight schedule in undertaking their work. Further, the number is often large and still, the feeling can be that some of these tools can be polished a little better. This user has the same impression and notes that on top of the performance issues, there is a problem with analytics:

  • "A possible drawback of Productboard is its relative lack of actionable analytics to perform deeper analytics. Though the system helps to gather the feedbacks, the mechanism of analysing the feedbacks is not as efficient as requires for further deep analysis, so there is the extra manual work required. Moreover, with an increasing number of feedbacks, their schematic and proper processing takes somewhat time, which affects the general tempo of work." (Source)

ProdPad reviews

On the other hand, ProdPad has generally favorable reviews and customers praise how easy it is to use. From implementing it in a product to learning the basic features, it has a great learning curve, even for users new to product management.

However, some users say that the prioritization is not as simple and straightforward as ProdPad claims:

  • "From a User Research perspective, synthesizing customer feedback is more complex than what Prodpad currently has to offer. Looking forward to new developments in the area!" (Source)

Other users state that ProdPad works well for smaller, less complex teams. However, when the team is bigger in size, and there are multiple external stakeholders, sharing access to ProdPad roadmaps and items can be complicated:

  • "I wish there were ways to restrict user access to different product groups. I run a product team that works across a number of different products, often with external stakeholders. We like to give these stakeholders access to ProdPad so that they can add new ideas and feedback, however, we currently can't restrict their access to only see one product and feedback from their domain." There are also small technical glitches, such as the inability to add screenshots to feedback items, both internally and externally:

  • "Our product is internal and B2B so our users are also our colleagues. A common question I hear from them is how to attach screenshots or attachments to their feedback because it would help them to express themselves better. Both tools have seemingly simple pricing, but once you dig under the surface, things get a bit more complex.

There are four plans available:

  • Starter (free, comes with 50 feedback notes and one team space, objective,e and product portal)
  • Essentials ($19 per maker per month when billed annually)
  • Pro (starts at $59 per maker per month, but you have to get a minimum of two makers)
  • Enterprise (you have to talk to sales to get a precise quote for your needs)

To understand the Productboard pricing properly, you must know who a Maker is. A Maker is someone on your team who can edit, update, create, add, and prioritize ideas and feedback items. In other words, you pay for the people on your team and not those who contribute customer feedback, vot,e and view roadmaps.

If you want to purchase ProdPad for your product management team, you'll have to spend some time figuring out what you'll pay because the pricing is pretty complex.

ProdPad pricing is split up into three tiers:

  • Roadmaps
  • Ideas
  • Feedback

Each of the tiers starts at $24/editor/month when paid annually. So, if you want all of the tiers for one editor, you'd pay $72 monthly.

In theory, this split is great because you can only choose to collect feedback, gather ideas or build roadmaps, or any combination of these. But in practice, it means that you may end up paying more than you would for other product management or customer feedback tools.

Once you round up all the tiers for a certain number of editors, you can pay hundreds per month for ProdPad.
